Chris is a highly experienced and specialised physiotherapist in musculoskeletal medicine and sports injuries with over 20 yearsâ experience and is owner of Complete Physio in London.
He has previously worked for the NHS, England squash, British Athletics, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Reading FC, Great Britain Badminton and at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
Chris also runs one of the UKâs leading providers of ultrasound education; SMUG, the Sports Medicine Ultrasound Group.
Qualifications
Dr Rowbotham trained at St Andrews University between 1996 and 2000 and obtained a 1st class degree in Medical Science and completed junior surgical rotations between Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh and Leeds.
She obtained FRCS membership in 2005 and entered Radiology training at the Leeds Academy in 1996 and is now Consultant Radiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
Dr Rowbotham is well known for co-authoring a textbook for the FRCR 2a examination, author of several peer-reviewed papers focusing primarily on imaging in rheumatology and writing 7 book chapters.
Qualifications
Doug worked part-time in sports and private practice since graduating in 1999 starting at Bristol Rugby then London Scottish until moving to a full-time position at Sale Sharks in 2006. He worked at the Sharks for 4 seasons, progressing to head Physio, then in 2010 became the head of Medicine at London Wasps and worked there for three seasons until being offered a full-time role to tour with the senior England Rugby side for the 2013 Six Nations campaign.
After the 2013 six nations campaign, Doug left full-time professional sports taking up the position as Physiotherapy director at Spire Manchester and responsible for the Physiotherapy department there and assisting in developing new services and business development.
Doug has a degree in Physiotherapy, a degree in Sports Therapy, a masters in Physiotherapy, he has a PGCe as a lecturer in higher education and his PHd is ongoing at Salford University.
He has published three papers in British sports medical journals on shoulder rehabilitation in the last ten years and has been invited to talk at numerous national conferences on sports medicine and rehabilitation.
Ian has been a physiotherapist for over 33 years. He worked as a physiotherapist for England Rugby Union, for 14 years, in various teams, and spent the last 8 years working with the Elite Playing squad, as a physiotherapist to England âAâ.
Currently, Ian is Athlete Health Lead Physiotherapist and Technical Lead for the North West for the English Institute of Sport, Clinical Director of Back In Action Rehabilitation, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, associate lecturer at Salford University, and member of the EdCom for EUSSER and BESS, along with the many one and two day courses he teaches across Europe.
He concluded his PhD in 2103 examining the issues around shoulder injuries in professional rugby, and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals on the subject of musculoskeletal injury management, and contributed chapters to several books on sports injury management.
He worked as part of the HQ medical team for Team England at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, was a member of the Team GB HQ medical team at the 2012, 2016 and 2020/21 Olympic Games and currently is a Consultant Physiotherapist to England Football.
In his spare time, Ian spends most of his time trying to learn to play golf, cycling, supporting Barnsley FC and having some quality time with his wife now the children have grown.

Angela is CEO of Henley Health Group and clinical director of Physiolistic in the UK where she has worked as an international trainer and physiotherapist for over 20 years. Angela now shares her time travelling with a Formula 1 team as team Physio and when she is home between races continues to work at the Henley Clinic.
Originally South African trained but has made the UK her home for over 20 years. Her reputation sees her work with some of the top orthopaedic surgeons in the world from Oxford and London and treats patients from all walks of life from Olympians to Oscar winning celebrities.
Her commitment to her profession and diagnostic and clinical skills has seen her reputation being held in high regard by both clinicians and patients alike and has helped to forge close links with GPs and Consultants locally and further afield to help ensure excellent continuity of care. Â Angela works with an array of patients from Elite athletes to your weekend warriors and patients just wanting to be able to walk better. This offers Angela the unique experience of having a vast pool of knowledge and expertise to call upon and has made her a very adaptable clinician to suit the treatment and approach to the individuals needs. She is also an international trainer for Winback Tecartherapy, working with top professional teams like Chelsea football club.

Dr Akram is an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician. His NHS practice is based at Stepping Hill Hospital, and he has also a busy private practice at the Spire Regency Macclesfield and The Wilmslow Hospital.
As well as diagnosing and treating the full range of general rheumatological diseases, his subspecialist interests are Early Inflammatory Arthritis, Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA)/Large Vessel Vasculitis (LVV) and MSK Ultrasound. He currently leads on the unique Stockport Early Inflammatory Arthritis âOne Stop Shopâ Ultrasound Clinic. This clinic aims to provide a rapid assessment and diagnosis, on the same day, of patients suspected of having an early inflammatory arthritis. Through this approach, as well as improving speed to diagnosis, early treatment can be initiated leading to better outcomes of potentially disabling musculo-skeletal diseases.
He is a EULAR Ultrasound Instructor and is regularly invited to speak at a local, regional, and national level. He is the founder and director of the âThe Rheumatology Ultrasound Course-Manchester Workshopâ, is a lead instructor for the North West Rheumatology Ultrasound Network and is a British Society of Rheumatology trainer. His main clinical research interests are focused on the use of ultrasound in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis/spondyloarthopathies, crystal arthritis and GCA/LVV.
Qualifications
Mike is a former Military Physical Training Instructor and rehabilitation specialist, fitness expert and Sports Rehabilitator. He has a strong reputation in the therapy world having had many articles published in national magazines and is a regular speaker at conferences and shows as well as running his own courses and workshops. Mike holds Masters level degrees in both Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine as well as degrees in Sports Rehabilitation, strength conditioning and Sports Science.
His passion is helping therapists and patients alike understand the evidence base by sharing his message into a practically understandable and applicable content.

Mike is affectionately known as âThe Endurance Physioâ where he runs a busy in person and online clinic coaching and treating athletes worldwide from novice to elite to optimise rehabilitation and performance.
Dr. Basuâs practice involves reviewing and reporting X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans. He also performs diagnostic ultrasound scans as well as treat various joint and soft tissue disorders with image-guided therapeutic injections predominantly revolving around orthopaedic, sports medicine and rheumatology conditions.
Dr. Basu currently holds Senior Honorary Lecturer positions at Manchester Metropolitan University and at the University of Salford.
Qualifications
Qualifying from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1985 Dr Robertson served 21 years in (in 2 spells) as a British Army Medical Officer, retiring Lieutenant-Colonel in 2010.
He is an experienced MSK sonographer and co-founded the AECC ultrasound course in Bournemouth University (where he was an honorary lecturer till 2014).
Dr Robertson, alongside his role at FYSICL, is now the club doctor for Fleetwood Town FC, is one of the medical advisers for the EFL and was recently appointed as a sports medicine consultant to both British Athletics and The FA.

Emma Holly is UKâs leading educator in scar therapy, with over 1,000 enrolments on her scar therapy courses since RESTORE Therapy training school opened in 2017. Emma started her career in the early 1990âs qualifying in massage and aromatherapy. Since then, she has spent decades specialising her soft tissue skills. She now works exclusively with scars, treating clients after planned surgeries, emergency surgeries and trauma injuries at her scar clinic in Harley Street.
Alongside her training school and clinic, Emma Holly has always found time to volunteer with charities. This has included organising over 550 scar therapy treatments for Invictus Games athletes via Help for Heroes from 2018 onwards, supporting Healing Hands Network Organisation and many UK cancer charities. Via her training school Emma has enabled over 1,655 free treatments to be given to people who may otherwise have not been able to access scar therapy, via the RESTORE scar therapy pledge.
Jonathan graduated in 1999 achieving a first-class BSc in Physiotherapy and began his acupuncture training in 2000. In 2003 he became an advanced member of the AACP and in 2004 he was awarded an MSc in acupuncture.
Since graduating he has worked in a variety of roles within the NHS, private sector and professional sport. Jonathan is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an accredited AACP tutor and Chair of the board of Directors of the AACP.
He delivers foundation courses and CPD within the private sector and NHS and has also had his work published in a number of journals including the Journal of Chinese Medicine.
Jonathan has previously been the MSc award leader at Staffordshire University, Principal of a school of physiotherapy and he currently acts as a consultant and sessional lecturer to a number of universities throughout the UK & US
He is also a consultant to Physiotherapists in Team GB, the FA and Premiership Football and Rugby Clubs in the UK and the NFL in the US.
Dr James Brown started his career as Club Doctor in Rugby League Yorkshire County Cricket followed by multiple seasons as Club Doctor for England Rugby Union 21âs seeing them through six nations and World Cup.
After finishing Sports Medicine training in 2007, he worked in Leeds at Chapel Allerton Hospital in Musculoskeletal Medicine at a similar time took up consultancy roles for Northern Ballet and British Triathlon at the Leeds Hub.
Since 2017, Dr James Brown has moved into the fast-paced world of Track and Field where he is now the lead Performance Doctor. He has used MSK ultrasound since the early 00âs teaching many people the art of scanning. Ultrasound is finding more utility in sports medicine and yet it still needs the user to be pragmatic to the needs of an elite athlete. It is hoped the technology will provide much-needed answers to assist RTP decisions, especially around muscle and tendon injury.

Sarah is a clinical specialist Occupational Therapist. Sarah qualified in 1997 and has spent the whole of her career working in Derby and for the past 20 years has worked with musculoskeletal outpatients. Sarah now manages a team of musculoskeletal OTs and Physiotherapists and specialises in vocational rehabilitation.
Sarah has developed a service level agreement for the NHS service to provide vocational rehab to Rolls Royce using the PrimusRS to complete functional capacity assessments to advise on work capacity, redeployment and ill health retirement.
Ken Johnson, PT, has served as the Director of Ambulatory Rehab Therapy Services at Johns Hopkins Hospital for the past 12 years, where he oversees clinical operations and programs, education programs, and research for the hospital and outpatient rehabilitation network throughout Baltimore, Maryland. As a practicing physical therapist and clinic leader for more than 27 years, Ken has worked in virtually every practice setting in our profession, serving patient populations from pediatric to professional athlete, active adult to aging executive, as well as at-risk populations to royalty overseas.
Earlier in his career, Ken spent seven years working to develop rehab technology with BTE Technologies, which became the cornerstone of the most significant growth in the Ambulatory Rehab Therapy Services in Johns Hopkins’ 130-year history. The diversity of Ken’s practice settings, provider collaborations, professional interests, and patient populations lends to his unique perspective on how to marshal Talent, Technology, and Training. He now is the co-director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Emerging Rehab Technology, an incubator for rehab technology innovation, integration, and investigation within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
In addition to his work at Johns Hopkins, Ken is a clinical advisor and supporter of One World Health, a global, faith-inspired healthcare organisation that partners with communities in developing countries in Africa and South America to bring permanent, sustainable healthcare to the chronically underserved. When not at home with his family in Columbia, Maryland, Ken can be found travelling the globe in search of new ideas, talent, technology, and treatment techniques to bring back to his patients and colleagues at Johns Hopkins.
Ashley is a Senior Lecturer within the School of Health at Leeds Beckett University. Ashley currently teaches on the BSc and MSc Sports and Exercise Therapy and MSc Sports and Exercise Medicine programmes.
Before his work in higher education, Ashley was Head of Academy Medical at Chesterfield Football Club for 7 years, whilst also owning a private sports injury clinic.
He is currently working towards several publications in football injury audits and physiological testing, looking at the relationship between muscle function, asymmetry, and injury risk. Ashley has a particular interest in football-related injury epidemiology and the current rehabilitation interventions used to reduce muscle injury in elite football.
Dr. Anders Broegaard is former board member of the Danish Chiropractic Association and current President of the Danish Clinical Society for ESWT. Dr. Anders Broegaard has gained extensive experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries over the last 29 years and has worked as part of the medical team for top national football, athletic and handball teams in Denmark.
He works in a multidisciplinary clinic in Copenhagen specialising in musculoskeletal diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of acute and chronic injuries, and has for the last 20 years worked with focused shockwave therapy.
Dr Dan Brooke is a Consultant in Sports, Exercise & Musculoskeletal Medicine. His specialist interests are in tendinopathy, concussion, ultrasound-guided injections, rugby medicine and hockey medicine.
He currently works as chief medical officer for British Skeleton and as a sports physician for the English Institute of Sport. He also works as a consultant at Pure Sports Medicine in London, with clinics at the Bank and Chancery Lane branches. He also works as a match day doctor for the RFU, Premiership Rugby and England Hockey.
His previous work includes working as lead doctor for the Ealing Trailfinders rugby club and is the immediate past President of the Sport and Exercise Medicine Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, London and has previously served as registrar representative to the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine Council UK.
Hannah Poulton is a Womenâs Health Physiotherapist, UK Leading Scar Specialist, Acupuncturist and Tutor. Hannah has over 20 yearâs experience in Physiotherapy and owns HLP Therapy, Positive-C-Section and Co-founded Everything Natal. Hannah provides highly specialised and individualised treatments to clients worldwide. Combining over two decades of Physiotherapy knowledge and skills, along with specialist scar knowledge and expert women’s health assessments, lends itself to more favourable outcomes for her clients.
